What do we have picking up dog poop? Do we make sure our hands are clean? Clean enough to chew on that apple? Or to take a bite of that cookie? Or take our son’s hand?

There’s a good chance we don’t even think about it. Because we don’t “touch” anything. But did we?

Do we “touch” something when we go to the bathroom? However, we all wash our hands afterwards. It’s just common sense, right? Well, it certainly is convenient, the water, the soap and the towels are there. Or if in a public facility without water, the hand sanitizer is there. So it’s common sense to wash our hands… Just to be safe. We use soap and water or use hand sanitizer after going to the bathroom.

Well, what about dog poop? Did you know this surprising fact? A single gram of dog poop can contain 23 million fecal coliform bacteria, many of which are harmful to humans, as well as being common carriers of 11 different diseases, including salmonellosis, cryptosporidiosis, campylobacteriosis, giardiasis, as well as parasitic diseases caused by whipworms, hookworms, roundworms, heartworms, and tapeworms.

So we’re definitely not done once we’ve picked up the debris. Just like after going to the bathroom, we should wash our hands to protect ourselves and others from these many potential diseases that are spread after handling the poop bag. If soap and warm water are hard to find on our daily walk, which it certainly is, our only option is to carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer.

This is a very good reason why investing in a modern dog poop bag holder is a very good option for us. There may very well be a place for your hand sanitizer.

Also, your empty poop bags will always be available on the carrier, which can be attached to the leash if applicable and available with your unit. Once you’ve picked up the poop, the loaded bag can be discreetly hidden and protected in your new accessory. It is now safe from bumps or shoves or the hands of small children. The expandable interior compartment of some units can hold more than one loaded bag. And with several new accessories, there’s room for other items like a wallet, cell phone or training devices or even a handy hook for your car keys, flashlight or trash bag dispenser. And finally, on an applicable accessory, there’s even a pocket for hand sanitizer.

Once we realize the many diseases that canine waste transmits, of course we must clean our hands after handling it. We know it’s the right thing to do. Makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? Consider a dog poop bag holder that fills this need and offers so much more, too. Enjoy your walk, enjoy the outdoors with your pet, but wash your hands after picking up dog poop.
