There are some simple and fun games that you can add to your quiz or trivia night that are sure to make everyone smile.

Sure it’s fun answering questions about history, sports, and music, but by the fourth or fifth round, people will appreciate something different.

A great new game is the treasure hunt. The treasure hunt involves awarding prizes to the first team that can reach the scoring table with a collection of special items. For example, you can announce that ten bonus points will be offered to the first team to arrive at the scoring table with three business cards, a safety pin, a red pen, and a bandage.

This is a great novel question for two reasons. First of all, it’s about teams communicating. Everyone immediately starts looking around their equipment and talking. “I have a pen and a business card, does anyone have a bandage?” Second, the question means that people can leave their seats and run to the scoring table. Even observers who remain seated indirectly enjoy watching some physical activity.

Another fun novelty game that you play is called the sit-stand game. Have everyone in the room stand up. Then ask them a yes or no question. Did Roger Federer win this year’s US Open tennis? for example. Tell the audience that if they think the answer is yes, they should put their hands on their heads. If they think the answer is no, they should put their hands on their hips.

Wait 5 seconds until everyone has chosen an answer, and then announce that the people who answered incorrectly should sit down. Continue until you have narrowed the audience down to a single standing person. This person is the winner and their team receives bonus points.

Again, this game is a lot of fun because it makes people temporarily get out of their seats and do something physical.

A very simple but fun game that you can incorporate into your quiz or trivia night is called the magic seat. Before the quiz begins, in fact, before the participants arrive, tape a piece of paper containing the word winner to the bottom of three chairs in the room.

Halfway through your test, you can ask everyone to get up and look under their chair for the special magic paper. The lucky ones who sit in a magic chair will earn their teams an extra five points.

Obviously, this game is simply based on luck, but people enjoy it.

You should definitely think about adding some novelty games to your quiz night or quiz. They can make a difference.
