There are many different marketing methods that one can use, but let us discuss the ways that you can market your handyman business using offline methods. Let’s first talk about some very specific offline strategies for building your customer list or prospect database. Let me take a step back and reiterate that you need to have some sort of database in which you store all of your contacts. Whether you’re using Outlook or an Excel spreadsheet or whether you’re using MAC it’s Address Book or maybe Contacts it doesn’t really matter what you’re using as long as it’s somewhere you can store your data which is your contact. names, phone numbers, addresses and email addresses. A lot of the offline strategies are ways to go out and build that internal list, that customer database.

There are three ways to do this from the start, and number one would be to join your Chamber of Commerce. You have to be out there meeting people, and a great way for business owners to meet people who might need something is through their local Chamber of Commerce. Go there and start meeting people and networking!

The next way would be to use a website called meetup.com. This is a place where you can just take up your hobbies and passions, or maybe you want to go there and attend a real estate investor group meeting or a real estate agent group meeting, or maybe find a group where they talk about owning a home or things that would be related to the particular job you want to do. Go to that site and those groups and get into those discussions, develop good relationships with those people, let them learn to know, like and trust you and give them your business card and a lot of times they’ll give you one back, which is really what you want. , anyway, and then add them to your database. Nurturing that database is key, so at least once a month you should send out some sort of newsletter, brochure, or promotional material – anything that reminds them of who you are and what you do.

The third one I want to talk about would be volunteering your time because by volunteering your time you will be able to meet like-minded people and in most cases those are the people who will hire you.

All three are the cheapest marketing you will ever do. I know some of you are thinking that you don’t want to spend that 50 cents or 60 cents per shipment every month, but when you look at it logically, if you get even a small two hundred dollar job doing those shipments every month, then you’ve already paid for it. shipping and most of the time you are more than earning by doing it.
