Education is the key to finding a career with excellent opportunities to earn living wages. That is a proven fact and it cannot be emphasized enough that people need all the education they can get. And even if they don’t intend to move on to graduate school, they still need to earn a degree in something they will want to do for a lifetime. Many young women drop out of education immediately after high school and later regret it when the harsh reality of the economy hits them and they must get a job.

Now there is government help in the form of the Obama Mom Scholarship Program and this involves up to $ 10,000 per year in grant money. Grants do not need to be repaid as is the case with student loans. This program is aimed directly at helping working mothers get a better education and find better paying jobs that they will be proud of.

Working moms find they have a lot more options when it comes to making career decisions when they can say they have a degree on their resume. Average wages will at least double with a degree in hand, and mothers can better cope with caring for their family when they can negotiate a higher hourly or wage earner. There is also a pride problem when women discover that they may even be earning more than a man in a comparable position.

Among the many scholarship options is one called the Federal Pell Grant and it is money available to study in the classroom or for online classes provided by a college or university of a working mother’s choice. Applications for these courses are available at those learning venues and women are encouraged to apply. The $ 10,000 grants can be renewed each year to further benefit that working mom.

The funds for these scholarships for working mothers come from many different sources, including large companies and wealthy citizens who donate funds in exchange for some nice tax breaks that benefit them.
