Stone Mountain Park, just east of downtown Atlanta, offers a variety of family-friendly activities this summer. There are two new shows at Crossroads, lots of fun outdoor activities and the Lasershow Spectacular, an Atlanta tradition.

The new shows at Crossroads are part of Summer at the Rock. These special activities will be in effect until August 8 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm A new show is an interactive futuristic adventure called Campfire at the Edge of the Universe. The other show is Ritmo at the Rock, a fantastic musical journey starring Ritmo Blu World Percussion Group.

There are plenty of other things to do at Stone Mountain Park. Visitors can hike the trail to the top of the mountain for a fabulous view of the Atlanta skyline. Those unable to hike can ride the Summit Skyride to the top. Adventurous visitors can visit Sky Hike, where they can trek through the treetops on a family adventure course. There are three courses of varying difficulty, from beginner to challenging. The routes cross hanging wooden bridges, vertical net bridges and a ropes course. Those looking for something less strenuous to do can enjoy riding the Scenic Railroad, which loops 5 miles around the base of the mountain, or ride the Duck Boats on Stone Mountain Lake. Families can also play a round of miniature golf, visit the Antebellum Plantation & Farmyard, or watch Journey to the Center of the Earth, a 4D movie starring Brendan Frasier. Plus, there are 15 miles of trails for hiking, lake fishing, picnicking, and golfing on two 18-hole golf courses.

One of the highlights of a day at Stone Mountain Park is seeing the Lasershow Spectacular. This is a fun filled laser light show set to music. The 45-minute program begins nightly at 9:30 pm There is open seating on the laser lawn and reserved seating on the VIP terraces. Dinner packages are available by reservation. To-go food (snacks, sandwiches, salads) can be purchased at The Marketplace.

A one-day parking pass for Stone Mountain Park is $10 per vehicle and includes the Lasershow Spectacular. A one-day adventure pass, which includes unlimited admission to most park attractions, is $27 for adults and $21 for children ages 3-11. Individual attraction tickets can be purchased separately. A good value is the Family Value Pass for $119. This includes four adventure passes and four dining tickets. This package reflects a 30% savings on individual tickets and is only available online.

Stone Mountain Park is just 16 miles east of downtown Atlanta on US Hwy 78. Head out for a day of family fun.
