Helen Duncan was born in Scotland in 1898. She was sought after for her psychic abilities during the 1930s and 1940s. She conducted séances in people’s homes and churches. Ms. Duncan used clairvoyance to help people connect with their loved ones.
Helen Duncan was found guilty of fraud when a policewoman grabbed a vest that was supposed to be Helen’s spirit child helper. She was found guilty of fraud and fined £10. The police raided one of her séances in 1944. Despite this fact, many people visited Helen and claim to have benefited from her psychic powers. During one of her tests, many people tried and remembered many of her impossible feats. The mystique surrounding her personality continues to motivate many practicing mediums around the world.
The Daniel Douglas Home was one of the most amazing physical media of the 19th century. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Daniel and his family moved to the United States in 1842. While still a teenager, he experienced strange phenomena in his home, such as moving furniture and strange noises. His aunt called the ministers to rid him of the “”curse””, but instead was informed that God had gifted him to carry out his work. He then he turned his abilities to give sessions. In 1852, Home began to levitate for the first time, a phenomenon for which he later became famous. In 1855, he returned to England and once more began to demonstrate his psychic gifts. After running a series of tests, leading scientist Sir William Crookes concluded that the gifts from him were genuine. Home finally retired in 1873 due to failing health. He died of tuberculosis in June 1886.
