Any plant or tree is considered the Wood element in Feng Shui according to its theory of the Five Elements. Feng Shui recommends the use of live plants to correct any imbalance within the home that is related to the Wood element. A plant is said to have a central nervous system and can absorb and alter the flow of chi in a room.

If the front door and the back door are aligned, it could cause the residents of the house to be unhealthy and have trouble saving their money. A living plant placed between the entrance and exit could dampen the flow of chi. This, in turn, would make residents healthier and allow them to save more easily.

Tall trees growing behind or in front of a house can act as mountains if they are taller than the house. These trees can act as protection for the property.

The thick trees, bushes, and shrubs that grow around a property can conserve energy that would otherwise be lost. If your house is situated on a lower level of your property, you can plant a hedge or row of potted plants to help keep chi on the property. This would help maintain the health and finances of the residents of your home. According to Feng Shui, a house that has a strong slope behind it will have a hard time conceiving sounds.

Dead or dry plants should be removed as quickly as possible according to Feng Shui. They are said to obstruct the free flow of chi. However, many Feng Shui practitioners believe that dried flower arrangements need not be bad for a home. If a dried flower arrangement has happy memories associated with it, it’s a good idea to leave it around the house.

Feng Shui recommends not to grow particularly strange plants. Most of these can be corrected through landscaping. If healthy plants are not growing in your garden, there could be a possible problem with the chi in the soil. According to Feng Shui, you should avoid having banana trees on your property as they tend to attract ghosts.

Popular Feng Shui practitioners also like to point out that plants with sharp leaves are similar to poison arrows. This also applies to plants such as cacti. However, if you live in a cactus-growing region, it may not be feasible to get rid of all the cactus plants in the neighborhood.
