There are no set rules for decorating a Christmas tree, but themed decorations have always been quite popular. One of the popular themes is the Victorian style, where antique ornaments and floral decorations are used. Handmade rose flowers and buds are the most popular choices. You can use the rosebuds individually or collectively as an ornament. It is a simple craft, where children and adults can participate equally. The following tutorial will systematically guide you on how to draw a ribbon rosebud for Christmas.

Steps to make Christmas ribbon rosebuds:

• Supplies: Gather all your supplies in one place beforehand, so you don’t have to rush to the store at the last minute. The raw material required for rosebuds is readily available and inexpensive. Will need:

– One 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inch wide wire edge French ribbon, approximately 1/2 to 2 yards long. The dimensions will depend on the size of the bud you want. The color is also purely a matter of choice. Some suggested selections might be pink, velvet red, yellow, orange, or shaded ribbon.

– A pair of scissors

– A floral stem wire about six inches long

– Only thin wire

– Green floral ribbon

– Needle-nose pliers or hair remover

• Styles: Depending on how you want to use the bud on your Christmas tree, you may or may not like to have a stem. If you can secure some flower stem wires, it’s the easiest way. Alternatively, you can take a simple cord of the desired length and wrap green floral tape lengthwise.

• Basic Structuring: Take the tape and at one edge, start pulling the wire so it starts to come together in one place. Pull out about a third of the wire, but be careful that the fabric doesn’t come out the other corner. Read only evenly gathered fabric. Now the other edge of the tape is starting to look wrinkled. If you want a stem on your bud, use one of the variations described in the previous steps. Otherwise, use a pen or pencil. Start wrapping the pulled edge of the tape near the end of the pencil or wire. Wrap it as tight as possible to impart the look of a cocoon. As you wrap, keep adjusting the shape with the pliers.

• Tuning: Twist the loose wire hanging from the rim to tighten and hold the base of the cocoon in place. If you were using a pen or pencil, carefully remove it before tying the base. Take some green tape and stick it over the end to cover the cord and make the thalamus. Are you ready!
