If you have a dog kennel, you know how important first impressions are. The smell and look of your space will speak louder than any word you can utter. And the right air purifier can make your house smell like rose, well, almost. Here are the 5 worst features you can have, so steer clear of any cleaners that have them.

* No Carbon – Carbon continues to be at the forefront in its ability to remove gaseous pollutants. Even without the smell of urine, there will be a smell just from the large number of dogs in your space.

And then there are those moments where they get sick, wrap themselves up in something they shouldn’t, or just give off that smell that dog lovers refer to as the “dog smell.” With all of these smells as a possibility, your unit should contain a substantial carbon filter.

* No Urine Additive – As effective as charcoal is on odors and gases, it will not remove urine odor without the help of an additive specifically designed to remove the ammonia odor that can be so offensive.

Just consider a unit that mentions a urine additive, or you will be very disappointed, and so will your nose.

* Minus HEPA: Hair, dander, fur, and other particles that dogs drag in can literally create thick air. And unfortunately, in a kennel, airborne bacteria and viruses use these airborne particles to travel from one host to another.

The increased possibility of spreading disease and infection is a terrible threat to your canine customers, it is not so good for humans, and it is even worse for your bottom line if the community finds out about the contamination.

Having a high efficiency particulate stop filter (or HEPA) included in the unit will remove particles down to 3 microns in size. Kills germs that can cause disease and infection as microscopic particles are removed.

* High Maintenance: Every time you have to stop your purifier for maintenance, it means that the air is not being cleaned. This reduces air quality rapidly as particles and gases go unchecked and build up to embarrassing, irritating, and even harmful levels.

If a purifier lacks a filter, or has a filter but no pre-filters, a lot of work awaits you.

A better option is a unit that requires little or no maintenance, such as occasionally vacuuming it from the outside. You won’t want to take it with you if you need me to spray or recharge it. Don’t worry, don’t worry, it should be the word about maintenance.

* Limited function: pollutants in your kennel don’t take a break. Therefore, your air filter must be able to clean after them 24 hours a day. A unit that can only run part of the day makes you sleepy and makes you think your air is cleaner …

Instead, choose a purifier with a split condenser motor that can run effectively and efficiently, whether it’s there or not. The result will be customers (both 4-legged and 2-legged) and staff who breathe healthier, fresher, and cleaner-smelling air. And that has no drawback, right?
