Male anorexia nervosa has been around the world for many years. They usually occur in their mid-twenties, when men’s metabolisms begin to slow, causing them to gain weight despite eating less and exercising regularly. Like female axorexia nervosa, male anorexics almost have the causes why they have this disease. Knowing the causes of male anorexia before treating them should be the first step that a person should take to know what treatment to follow to recover quickly from this serious disease.

There are 3 basic causes of male anorexia;

1. Genetics –

Have you seen a family where most of their siblings are fat or obese, but there is a brother, sister or even a relative who is not and is rather the opposite of what you saw? Well, the answer is that someone in your bloodline has suffered from male or female anorexia long before your time.

Most of the people who have a lineage suffering from anorexia are usually the perfectionist type of the family. When a male member of the family is the anorexic type, they are the ones who are the depressed type and the cause of the depression is most likely a horrible taunt from a classmate, neighbors and friends growing up. Due to the frequent teasing they felt during their childhood or even during their adolescence, they develop a disease called obsessive-compulsive behavior where they tend to be perfectionists and the first goal in their mind is not to be fat or obese like their parents and siblings.

2.Family-

This category is more about how a male child was raised. Not all families are perfect, there are families that are more loving than goal-oriented. Parents in this type of family accept their children even though they are not the valedictorian or a rising superstar athlete, remaining happy as long as their family stays together. The other type of family is the goal-oriented type. This type of family is where we can usually see anorexia problems as the basic source of happiness for this type of family is success in everything they do. The parents of this type of family are perfectionists and achievers and because of the success they achieve they want their children to follow in their footsteps. Due to this mindset, some of the children rise to the top while others become depressed and often create psychological illnesses including anorexia nervosa.

3. Society and people around you –

Television or the media, cultural pressures and the people around you all play a vital role in your image awareness. The media have a strong influence on us whose results are positive and negative. This influence creates awareness in people of what could be in politics, wealth and health. Although the aim of the media is to inform people, this also has bad advantages, we tend to be more cautious and self-aware, which creates multiple problems such as depression, doubts and fears. Studies show that men are more likely to be influenced in the media than women. Women are more “woman to woman, tell me your secret on how to look good” but men are afraid they will be laughed at if they ask their friends. They are afraid to expose their problems “(like how to lose weight to look good)” to their male partners because of their pride, that is why they tend to do more research to answer the questions that have been bothering them. them.

Knowing the 3 basic causes of male anorexia before treating them is very important for easy treatment. When you know the causes, the treatment will be easy for you, both mentally and physically.
