If you’re reading this, then you’re interested in learning more about the Sanyo rice cooker product line. There are three basic categories and the choice between them depends on the needs of your home. Sanyo is a respected and trusted Japanese company that uses state-of-the-art technology to produce the very best rice cookers, so choosing one of these will ensure you get a quality machine, likely to last a long time if well cared for. My family has been using the same rice cooker for the past 20 years, I have no doubt something similar can be achieved.

3 cup rice cookers

This is the size I bought when I moved out of my house. I live in a small apartment (350 square feet) and space means a lot. These models are practical to clean and maintain. I usually eat rice with my girlfriend, so a cup of rice is fine for both of us on an average night. I have already hosted four people at a curry night I hosted and I have no doubt that this size cooks enough rice for up to five people, comfortably.

The automatic heating function also exists in this machine. In other words, if you forget the rice is ready, you could have two scenarios: something burning on the fire, or a very clever appliance keeping the rice warm for instant consumption. Perfect huh?

These pots are non-stick and both the lid and the bowl open for easy cleaning. Maintenance is quite quick and easy. I clean the outside of my rice cooker once a week just to keep out dust. (Mine sits on top of my fridge, instead of my non-existent counter.)

5 cup rice cookers

This is what I have at my parents’ house. If your household has 4-6 people, this is the perfect size for you. You can easily handle visits if guests come, whether they were invited or not…

This size is also very practical for another reason: it is large enough to hold soups, curries or stews. You can serve them in your rice cooker and use the warm function, instead of an ugly pan on the table, or a beautiful, cold bowl of soup.

You can also make foods like quinoa and oats for your family. Eat healthy!

10 cup rice cookers

This size is only recommended for restaurant owners or people who entertain a lot. In the case of households, my additional recommendation is that these people already have a 5-cup model and use it so much that they see the need to upgrade theirs. This is a larger and more expensive machine and you need to think about whether you really need such a large appliance in your home.

That being said, I think the use I mentioned earlier for keeping soups, stews, and curries warm can be greatly enjoyed here. If you’re hosting a party at your home or local church, why not use a 10-cup model?

As for restaurant owners, I’ve seen these cooks holding up miso soup at a Japanese restaurant, feijoada at a Brazilian restaurant, in addition to the rice itself. As long as it’s liquid and needs to be kept hot, I think a 10-cup rice cooker can meet your needs perfectly.

As for prices, they obviously increase as the size of the device grows. Another reason to refine your purchase decision, don’t you think?
