The 2010 NFL season is 2 weeks away and the Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-0 and have the most dominant and punitive defense in the league. Last week, the Steelers played the Tennessee Titans, who were also 1-0 and have the very dangerous Chris Johnson as their running back. Johnson was looking for his 13th straight 100-yard rushing game, but the Steelers held him to 34 yards on 16 carries.

The Steelers defense was aggressive and dominant as they recorded 3 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries. The play of the game was when Troy Palomalu flew over the offensive line to sack Kerry Collins at the goal line. Palomalu is healthy again this year after missing numerous games last year with a knee injury. Troy is the heart and soul of the Steeler defense and a game changer.

Palomalu has 2 interceptions in 2 games and his interception last week helped stop a potential late Atlanta game-winner. The Steelers not only eliminated the most prolific running back in the NFL, they also eliminated Vince Young, who can beat you with his legs and arm. The Steelers intercepted Vince Young twice before he was benched for Kerry Collins, who ended up throwing a touchdown to Nate Washington, who was a wide receiver for the Steelers.

The Steelers won the game 19-11 after losing QB Dennis Dixon to a knee injury. The defense won the game for the Steelers who couldn’t find the end zone more than a kickoff return touchdown run. The Steelers’ defense is hot and they just might take the team deep into the playoffs.
