The New Forest National Park in the UK has many wonderful campsites to offer if you want to go camping close to nature, wildlife and all the beauty of this wonderful environment.

I hadn’t seen a Safari tent or a Ready tent until I recently visited Camp Roundhill near Brockenhurst and Camp Holmsley near Lymington.

What a fantastic surprise! Wish I had booked a few nights, everything seemed so cozy.

The Safari tents at Holmsley were beautifully equipped. Outside, 2 really comfortable looking wooden loungers and a cute little barbecue welcomed you. Then when you entered the fully covered floor area you were greeted by another quality wood dining table and chairs area. The outer flaps of the Safari tent recede so the entire area is open plan and of course you are facing the grassy area of the New Forest.

The kitchen area is great too. Lots of gear and a good sized cooktop and grill – the bacon and eggs here in the morning would just taste great I’m sure!

The sleeping area was amazing! Proper brass beds with comfortable full-size mattresses, also mosquito nets around each bed, although you are not in malaria territory here, don’t worry! – There are mosquitoes and if a horsefly bites you will know it.

There was ample storage space with units arranged like a cabin, chest of drawers and mirrors on a dresser, a true home away from home. I’ve taken a lot of photos so you can get an even better idea. One photo I took was as if you had woken up and were watching from your bed; hopefully it gives a good idea of what it would be like to camp in a safari tent in Holmsley. You can see your bronze curve in the picture. It wasn’t my initial idea of what camping was like!

Then I went to the wonderful Roundhill Campground to see their Ready tents. Although they were not as luxurious as the Safari tents, they were fantastic. Once again, a couple of sun loungers and a barbecue welcome you outside their tent. This time there is a rather wooden floor covering, but everything is beautifully clean and inviting.

There are no brass curves here, but the bed area was clean and very comfortable. I tried the mattresses and they were soft and springy. The kitchen area was pretty much the same as the one in the Safari tent. A grill, a cooktop, and loads of good gear, means you should be able to easily get those eggs and bacon on the go here too!

The real advantage of this campsite is the Roundhill Information Center – here you can really experience all the history, wildlife information and examples from the UK’s New Forest National Park. You can also take part in a sunset hike to see deer or experience extra special places that you will remember forever.

When we were there the toilets and showers were very well clean and well run.

Hope this has given you an idea of what a night under the tarp in the New Forest can be like, especially if you opt for the Safari tent or the Ready tent style for camping. You will be close to all the beauty of this lovely area, but you will also have a little luxury for camping. Fancy Camp I think is another name for this style of camp and now I can see why.

Fancy an expedition to the beautiful Forest National Park UK? for a night under luxury tarpaulins in a Safari tent or Ready tent? I know I did!
