The goal is important. The goal is like the destination of your trip. We need the destination to be able to look on the map. See where we want to go. Look at the direction we must go. Calculate the time we spend to reach that destination. Check the compass to see where we really need to be heading and start walking until you get there. The steps are not very different from what we normally do in daily life. We need to know the destination before we get in our car and drive.

The chance that we will find what we want is less than none. We will not achieve what we want if we do not have a clear and precise objective. Here are the five goal qualities to consider before the goal setting process. These qualities were mentioned a long time ago in management classes in the MBA era. This is called the SMART goal setting process. SMART is an acronym for the real qualities we need to have in our goals. The SMART objectives are:

1. Specific: We need to set a goal that is specific and clear. Our goals have to be specific enough so that we really know where we need to go. The clarity of the objective is as important as the destination on the map when we are lost in the desert. The possibility of us losing our life in the desert is very high if we do not know exactly where to go to get out. The expert said without the address in the dessert and you are lost. If you keep walking, you will finally return to the starting point. This is solely because you are left-handed or right-handed. The use of your leg will follow the same pattern. You will be better on one leg than the other. That will lead to only a small degree of deviation in your walk. And if you walk long enough, the detour will bring you back to where you started. So, whenever you decide to set your goal, think about the image of yourself lost in dessert. You won’t treat goal setting lightly if you see that picture. You need to be clear enough about your goal so that you don’t end up sad.

2. Measurable: the objective must be measurable. To evaluate our progress, we need some numbers to compare with what we plan. If you want some money, don’t just write a goal that you need some money. Specify the amount of money you want and the term. Make your goal quantifiable. You will know if you need to adjust something in your actions during your trip.

3. Achievable: The goal that is not achievable does not bring the person to their state of motivation. Many people set a goal and think that the higher the goal, the more they achieve. This is not true if the goals are not achievable. Your brain will immediately reject the goal once it appears, as you will not believe that you can achieve it.

4. Realistic: We need to be honest with ourselves when setting goals. Wanting double or triple your income while wanting to spend most of your time playing golf may not be realistic. If the goal is unrealistic, the brain will immediately reject it again. Make sure your goal is reasonable to you and your action.

5. Time limit: time is the only resource that everyone has equally. This valuable resource will mean your success or failure. The plan that does not have a time frame will not be achieved as people tend to procrastinate. If you do not have your deadline, the possibility that you will postpone your activity until longer is very high. Once time is limited, you know that you will need to commit to your activities. You will not overlook your action, as you know that time is important in achieving your goal.

Goal setting is a valuable process for your success. We need to understand the nature of a good goal in order to be able to set our goal effectively. The five goal qualities here will build your understanding of the importance of your goal clarity and speed up your success process.
