Introduction

Chasing Tomorrow by Sidney Sheldon is a novel I enjoyed reading three years ago when I had no homework pressure. I had asked my brother to buy some of Sidney’s novels and paid him well. Fast forward today in the spooky surroundings of my new home as night approaches, I thought reading a novel was a great way to forget about everything and even myself. That’s why I picked up the book to write a review.

about the book

“Chasing Tomorrow” is a continuation of the novel “If Tomorrow Comes”, also written by Sidney. Both have mysteries, sadness and culmination of ecstasy and joy. The heroine, Tracy Whitney, is a con artist, as is her man, Jeff. After playing naughty and corrupt games with evil people and making an ill-gotten fortune, they both decide to settle down in the sequel to the novel “Chasing Tomorrow”. A misunderstanding leads to her separation and as much as Jeff searches for her, he can’t find a trace of her. Then Tracy, who has her child (which Jeff doesn’t know about), is playful and lives happily on a ranch high in the mountains with her single old neighbor. Then, gradually, she learns from a police detective that Jeff’s life is in danger in Europe and that someone cunning behind the scenes is playing their game on them. Tracy remembers how Jeff once saved her life (as narrated by Sidney in the first novel “If Tomorrow Comes”). She therefore leaves her child in the care of her neighbor and flies to Europe following a guessing game organized by the cunning person above them.

This person brutally tortures Jeff to the skull and Tracy arrives in time to kill the villain with her little revolver after a complete and gruesome fight. The police also enter the scene and take Jeff to the hospital. But Tracy can’t stay by her side all the time because of her past as a con artist and the corrupt games she played and deceived people that other police detectives are now interested in. So she has to fly to her son and her neighbor.

There is a reconciliation of Jeff and Tracy at their mountain ranch. But Tracy decides to stay apart and tells her for the good of her son. Jeff accepts and leaves. His son calls him Uncle Jeff and is sad to see him go. He asks his mom if they will meet Uncle Jeff again because she really likes him. Tracy subtly replies, “Maybe. You never know what tomorrow holds.”
